When you buy furniture from a UK store, by law it must be clearly labelled stating compliance with fire safety regulations, so you might be wondering about the safety of the product when you purchase foam cut to size. There have been regulations on foams used for furniture in the UK for over thirty years and F.C. Hancox technicians are fully conversant with fire retardant foam and of current regulations that apply to the foams we sell.

Fire safety is important to us and all the foams listed below meet the requirements of the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, Schedule 1 Prt 1 accordance with the method set out in BS5852.

The only exception in foams supplied by F.C. Hancox is Calipore. As an outdoor foam, Calipore foam doesn’t comply with the indoor foam regulations and is therefore for outdoor use only.

Of course, buying foam for your own use does not mean you need to label the furnishings you make with the foam.
