It is unlikely that the first thing you think about when sitting at your work desk is your office chair foam. Given that you spend much of the day sitting on it you want your chair to be as comfortable as possible. If your current seat is uncomfortable or not supporting your body and buying a new chair isn’t an option, then why not consider changing the cushion? It’s easy with our foam-cut-to-size service.
There are two ways you can do this. If the seat and its covers are removable, then you can easily replace the foam inside for a more comfortable foam. Take out the foam and use its size and shape as a template. Go to our foam cut-to-size service page and choose the shape nearest to your template. Key in the dimensions then select the type of foam you’d like. You will have the option to add a stockinette, this can help when pushing the new foam into the cover. Order your foam and it will be with you very soon.The best foam to use for office chair foam are CMF35, CMF38 or Reflex 400H. When your new foam arrives simply place it into the cover and you’ve made your own memory foam office chair.
If the seat cover is fixed, then you can top the seat by making an office chair foam cushion using the foam-cut-to-size service as described above. Measure the seat’s depth and width and select a height of at least 5 inches or 12.8cm and select the memory foam. You will need a cover that can be commercially bought or made by a competent sewer. This will make a comfortable memory foam cushion. Once you have your new cushion you will be sitting slightly higher than before, so don’t forget to readjust the height of the chair to keep the chair ergonomically correct.
Similarly, the chair’s back support can be changed, or a foam back support used. The best back cushion for an office chair doesn’t necessarily need to be memory foam. It will be a matter of choice and how much comfort and support your back needs. Our staff are happy to help with foam choice.
