  • Firmness – A foam’s firmness is about how soft or hard a foam feels.
  • Density – Density is about the makeup of the foam. The more close-textured it is, the denser and heavier it will be. Dense foam can be soft. Dense foam is harder wearing than less dense foam.

What Thickness Should Sofa Cushion Foam Be?

Generally, for made to measure sofa cushion foam, the thickness is dictated by the size of the cushion.

The average thickness of a sofa seat cushion can range from 4 to 6 inches (10-15cm). The standard minimum for comfort is 4” (10cm). Modern sofa seat cushions average 5 -6 inches (12.5-15cm).
