What is chip foam?
Chip foam is foam that has been manufactured from waste foam pieces. As well as chip foam, you may hear it referred to as crumb foam or reconstituted foam or recon foam. Whichever name is used it is recycled foam.
Waste foam is produced by a wide range of businesses, including the furniture industry, and companies making foam products such as for packaging. Waste offcuts are collected then processed by first shredding the used foam and then tightly compressing it using a bonding adhesive. The result is a highly dense, multi-coloured, durable foam that has a wide range of applications. And with F.C. CMB recycled foam from F.C. Hancox
We supply two grades of recycled foam, CMB6 and CMB8 chip foam that can be cut to any size or shape. Both foams are excellent for items that have heavy use. Our grades come in 6lbs and 8lbs weight. These weights refer to the actual weight per cubic foot. It also means the heavier the foam, the denser it is. Denser foams are hard wearing and long-lasting. Another great benefit to these versatile CMB chip foams is that they are budget priced.
CMB6 – is 6lbs and is a very firm foam. It is suitable for seating, especially contract seating, and items such as kneelers and similar objects that are well used.
CMB8 – is 8lbs – this is an extra firm option and is again a great choice for seating. This type of foam is often used for bus and train seating and gymnastic mats.
Foam Sheets – Additionally, we offer CMB6 and CMB8 in sheets. Due to their density, chip foams are an excellent material for soundproofing. This foam is also a very efficient material for protective packaging and suitable for storing delicate items.

Using recycled foam
Recycled foam can be used in most foam applications, especially where a firm option is desired. It can be used to replace sofa and seating pads and is a great budget choice. Lamination – best of both worlds
Using recycled foam for your seating project is a great option for anyone on a budget. These hard-wearing chip foams make excellent seating bases and foam for seating, but they may be too firm for some. You can have the best of both worlds by having a layer of memory foam adhered to the chip foam. If you are ordering chip foam and memory foam, or reflex foam, to be laminated together, use the foam cut to size page.
