We are often asked ‘what makes waterproof foam different to any other foam?’ When foams are manufactured their structure depends upon the chemical formula and the cell structure created. If you think of a sponge, you can see lots of holes. Foam has a similar structure. Indoor foam acts like a sponge and will soak up moisture. Waterproof and quick drying foams like Calipore are specially manufactured with large cells, called reticulated cells, so that water can easily pass through. These large cells also allow air to circulate which in turn speeds up drying.

Where there is moisture, bacteria can grow, which is why our outdoor cushion foam has anti-bacterial additives, which though harmless to the environment, prevent mould and fungal growth.
